2nd Iranian Trade Conference: New Prospects for British-Iranian Trade & Investment

“Since I commented in January on the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action there has been a clear increase in the interest shown by British companies in trading with Iran. The membership of the Chamber of Commerce has returned to the numbers of six years ago prior to the extension of sanctions… While a number of issues need to be resolved before we can claim that trading with Iran is 'back to normal', the activity since January is looking encouraging. Following the Brexit vote, export to markets such as Iran will be more important than ever.”

 Summary

It has been a year and a half since Iran, The United States and five other world powers reached a deal designed to limit Tehran’s nuclear programme. As a result, the United Nations lifted all nuclear-related sanctions and the EU lifted many bilateral sanctions on Iran’s banking and energy sectors. Slowly but surely, progress is being made towards establishing normal trade relations between the UK and Iran.

As we enter an era of much closer relations between the two countries, we are delighted to let you know that The Rt Hon Liam Fox MP, Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade, H.E. Hamid Baeidinejad, Iranian Ambassador to the United Kingdom and The Rt. Hon. Lord Lamont of Lerwick, UK Trade Envoy to Iran and Chairman, British-Iranian Chamber of Commerce will be giving keynote presentations at The 2nd Iranian Trade Conference on the 2nd November 2016 in London.

This exclusive event organised in association with the Department of International Trade is a follow up to City & Financial Global’ s very successful inaugural Iranian Trade Conference, which took place on 11-12 April 2016 in London and at which Lord Price, Minister of State and Investment and the Rt. Hon. Lord Lamont of Lerwick addressed an audience comprising both multinational companies and SMEs from the UK, Europe and Iran, as well as government representatives. It's objective is to provide delegates with an in-depth understanding of the key issues involved in doing business with Iran, including the challenges and opportunities that lifting International trade sanctions is creating, as well as an analysis of the business opportunities in the infrastructure, oil & gas and financial services sectors, both in terms of export potential and direct investment.
