Elizabeth Denham was appointed the UK’s Information Commissioner in July 2016 for a five year term, building on her previous experience as Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia and Assistant Privacy Commissioner of Canada.Elizabeth is committed to being a firm but fair regulator protecting information rights and supporting innovation and economic growth. She has overseen an expansion of the ICO and has led on pioneering work safeguarding the public including setting standards for children’s privacy and introducing a regulatory sandbox. Her investigation work has focused on complex data ecosystems explaining to the public how and why their personal data is being used. This includes an investigation into mobile phone extraction by police from victims and witnesses of sexual offences, and an investigation into the use of personal data by data brokers in direct marketing.During the COVID-19 pandemic, Elizabeth has led the ICO’s efforts to provide timely, practical advice on complying with data protection while preventing and detecting the spread of the virus. She has provided evidence to parliamentarians and spoken to ministers about finding practical privacy-friendly solutions.In December 2020 she was the inaugural recipient of the Society Medal by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT for her contribution to making digital technology good for society.
Simon joined the ICO in October 2018 as a member of the Executive Team. Simon is responsible for leading the work of the Regulatory Innovation and Technology Directorate, ensuring delivery of ICO strategic goals through stakeholder liaison, guidance, research and international activity.His work includes helping the ICO identify, understand and address emerging technologies with privacy implications, supporting the ICO’s innovation agenda, and making the ICO itself more ‘tech savvy’.Prior to this appointment, Simon led a global privacy consulting practice at Promontory, an IBM company, leading projects across Europe, the US and Asia. He previously led a similar team for Deloitte in the UK.Simon is qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and a long time ago read English Literature at Somerville College, Oxford.
Sherry Madera joined LSEG via Refinitiv as the Chief Industry and Government Affairs Officer in March 2019 from City of London where she was Economic Ambassador to Asia and Special Advisor. After the merger of Refinitiv and London Stock Exchange Group, Sherry now leads a team across all the LSEG divisions including Capital Markets, Post Trade and Data & Analytics.Sherry is a unique combination of ex-investment banker and ex-diplomat. Previously, as Minister-Counsellor at the British Embassy in Beijing, Sherry was responsible for promoting trade and investment between the UK and China. She has focused on Financial and Professional Services and Technology, as key industries of international growth. Søren brings over 25 years of Financial Markets experience in delivering mission critical transformational projects for financial institutions. His responsibilities include complex transformations of financial institutions, Innovation in Financial Markets leveraging new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Quantum & Blockchain, and post-trade initiatives around intelligent operations, reference data management, collateral management and OTC-derivatives processing. Prior to re-joining IBM in 2013 Soren was Managing Director for SunGard Global Services in Europe developing and delivering service solutions around SunGard products working with several tier 1 European clients. Having previously worked at financial organisations such as Morgan Stanley, Paribas Capital Market and HBOS Treasury, he brings a practitioner's view to the challenges faced by customers today. Søren has, since January 2017, been an advisor to the Consultative Working Group of ESMA’s Financial Innovation Standing Committee (FISC) advising European Regulators on Technology & Innovation, he is also on the advisory board and on the Steering Committee of the Cloud Data Management Working Group of the EDM-Council.

Jeni Tennison, Vice President and Chief Strategy Adviser, the Open Data Institute Jeni Tennison is the Vice President and Chief Strategy Adviser of the Open Data Institute, which has a mission to work with companies and governments to build an open, trustworthy data ecosystem. She gained a PhD in AI from the University of Nottingham then worked as an independent consultant, specialising in open data publishing and consumption. She was the technical architect and lead developer behind legislation.gov.uk, before joining the ODI as Technical Director in 2012, becoming CEO in 2016 and Vice President in 2020. She served on the W3C's Technical Architecture Group from 2011 to 2015 and co-chaired the W3C’s CSV on the Web Working Group. She is the co-chair of the Data Governance Working Group within the Global Partnership for AI. She also sits on the Advisory Boards for the Open Contracting Partnership, Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data and the Information Law and Policy Centre; on the UK's Health Tech Advisory Board; and is an adviser to the Board of OpenUK. She loves board games and is the proud co-creator of the open data board game, Datopolis.
As Manager for Sustainability, Ben is developing UK Finance’s policy positions, engagement and outreach in the fields of climate risk, green finance and broader sustainability, with a focus in 2021 on net zero and COP26. Prior to joining UK Finance Ben was a civil servant working on international and domestic climate policy, including being on the UK delegations to COP20 and COP21 and then establishing a UK-China green finance technical assistance programme.

A member of the British Standards Institute IST/012 Financial Services Committee which undertakes standard setting in the United Kingdom and supports ISO TC/68 in the creation of global standards for financial Services and Eurofiling, a partnership between policy makers and experts from various disciplines in the use of standards in regulatory policy. Dawd attends the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) Globally Important Financial Institution (GIFI) Relationship Group. He chairs Financial Industry Best practice groups and frequently collaborate with other Market participants and infrastructure providers to create solutions to shared regulatory obligations. Dawd works with regulatory policy makers in many of the jurisdictions in which they operate in both policy creation and clarification to ensure the bank and the Industry are able to meet their obligations. He is particularly proud of the work he has done in advising Committee on Payment and Market Infrastructure (CPMI), International Organisation of Securities Commission (IOSCO) and the Financial Stability Board (FSB) on global transparency standards. With more than 20 years of experience and deep knowledge of global data privacy and cybersecurity law, compliance and policy, she has a proven industry record in designing strategy, and building and managing data privacy compliance programs. Bojana was one of 20 privacy experts to participate in the transatlantic “Privacy Bridge Project” from 2014 – 2015 that sought to develop practical solutions to bridge the gap between European and US privacy regimes.Currently, Bojana sits on the Datum Future Advisory Board, the Internet Commission Advisory Board, the OECD’s Privacy Guidelines Expert Group and the Thomson Reuters’ Practical Law Data Protection Consultation Board, as well as the Advisory Board of the Tech, Law and Security Program (TLS) at the American University Washington College of Law. Kate Dodgson is a project manager, researcher and lawyer specialising in technology and innovation in the peace, justice and humanitarian sectors. She advises NGOs, governments, UN agencies and technology companies on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain, and the legal and ethical implications of applying them in humanitarian and development contexts. Adrian Weller is Programme Director for AI at The Alan Turing Institute, the UK national institute for data science and AI, where he is also a Turing AI Fellow leading work on trustworthy Machine Learning (ML). He is a Principal Research Fellow in ML at the University of Cambridge, and at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence where he is Programme Director for Trust and Society. His interests span AI, its commercial applications and helping to ensure beneficial outcomes for society. He serves on several boards including the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation. He is co-director of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) programme on Human-centric Machine Learning, and a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global AI Council.
