Richard Monks is the Director of Strategy at the FCA. Richard has over 15 years’ experience in Financial Regulation, including roles in Supervision, Policy, Enforcement and as Private Secretary to former FSA Chairman, Lord Turner. Richard is responsible for setting the FCA Strategy, allocating FCA resource and for delivering cross-cutting strategic policy, such as Climate Change and Intergenerational issues.
Martin Spolc is the Head of the Sustainable Finance unit in the European Commission's Directorate General for Financial Services. Prior to his current role, he was the Head of the Capital Markets Union unit, the Economic analysis unit, Deputy Head of the Banking unit and Assistant to the Director General, directly involved in developing the Banking Union and other key projects in the area of financial services aiming at restoring financial stability since the crisis. Before joining the Commission, he had worked at risk management consultancy and the banking sector. He is the holder of the CFA and FRM designations and member of the CFA Institute and Global Association of Risk Professionals.
Anthony Cox is the Deputy Director of the Environment Directorate of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Since joining the OECD in 2000, Anthony has led multi-disciplinary teams tackling a wide range of environmental issues including climate, water, fisheries, biodiversity, political economy of reform, green finance and the ocean. He has coordinated major multi-agency projects on climate, finance and growth, and guides the OECD’s work on the sustainable ocean economy. He also leads the OECD’s engagement on environment, climate and energy issues in the G7 and G20. Prior to joining the OECD, Anthony worked as Senior Economist in the Australian Public Service, including positions in the Productivity Commission and the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics.
Elizabeth’s career has been in financial services. She was CEO of Allianz Global Investors, initially for Europe and then globally, from 2005 to 2016. She continued to act as an advisor to the company in various capacities until the end of 2019. Elizabeth was previously at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (formerly Mercury Asset Management), Coopers & Lybrand, where she was a consulting partner, and at Sun Alliance. She is a non-executive director of Pearson plc, BAE Systems plc and Morgan Stanley Inc. She is chair of the Impact Investing Institute; a director of the Green Finance Institute; serves on the investment committee of the Leverhulme Trust; is a member of the CFA Future of Finance Council, AQR Asset Management Institute, the Committee of 200 and the 300 Club. As well as being a trustee of the British Museum, Elizabeth is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is also a published author of crime thrillers. She was awarded a CBE in January 2015 and a DBE in June 2019 for services to the economy and financial services. In 2016 Elizabeth received an honorary doctorate from the London Institute of Banking and Finance (formerly the IFS University College) and in June 2019 she was made an honorary fellow of the London Business School.
Nathan Fabian is the Chief Responsible Investment Officer at the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment. He directs and oversees the PRI’s Investment Practices, Active Ownership, Policy & Research, ESG, Climate Change and SDG activities. Nathan is also the Rapporteur for the Taxonomy Group of the EU Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance. He was an Observer on the EU High Level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance and part of the Secretariat for the UK Green Finance Taskforce.Prior to the PRI, Nathan was the CEO of the Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) Australia / New Zealand. Previous roles include Head of ESG Research at Regnan, a provider of ESG research and engagement services; founding Partner of Full Corp Partners, a financial services and IT start-up company advisory firm; and Corporate Governance Policy Advisor in the Australian Parliament. He has also worked as a senior change management consultant for Arthur Andersen and as a market analyst at Krone, a German-based telecommunications company.Nathan holds a M.A. in International Relations from the University of New South Wales, a BBus from the University of Newcastle (Australia) and is a Vincent Fairfax Fellow in ethics and leadership.
Eric Usher Heads the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative, UNEP FI, a global partnership bringing together the UN with a global groups of banks, insurers and asset managers working to develop the sustainable finance and responsible investment agendas. Eric oversees governance, strategy and day-to-day management of UNEP FI’s work programme and global network development. Over the years UNEP FI has established some of the most important sustainability oriented frameworks within the finance industry, including the Principles for Responsible Investment (2006), the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (2012) and the Principles for Responsible Banking (2019). Since joining in 2015, Mr. Usher has focused on accelerating the deep integration of sustainability risks into financial practice, including addressing climate change, natural capital loss and human rights abuses, as well as building out the frameworks for positive impact finance needed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Eric sits on several industry bodies including as UN representative on the Board of the Principles for Responsible Investment, and as a member of the governing boards of the Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance, the Investor Agenda and the impact fund REPP Africa.Prior to leading UNEP FI, Mr. Usher has over twenty years of experience in the low carbon sectors, spanning technology commercialisation in Canada, solar rural electrification in Morocco and financial sector development across emerging markets. During 2011, Mr. Usher worked on the establishment of the Green Climate Fund and led efforts to create its Private Sector Facility. Eric has been an editor of the Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment report published annually with Bloomberg and was lead author for finance of the IPCC Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources. Earlier in his career, Eric was General Manager of a solar rural electrification company based in Morocco.
Romain Boscher joined Fidelity International as Global CIO, Equities in April 2018. He is responsible for overseeing Fidelity International’s equity franchise and working closely with distribution partners to align our investment capabilities with client needs. Romain is a member of the Global Operating Committee. In his most recent role, Romain was Head of Equities at Europe’s largest asset manager Amundi Asset Management, where he managed a team of around 150 investment professionals mainly located across Europe and Asia, and was responsible for US$170bn in assets covering both judgemental and quantitative investment solutions. Prior to that he was Chief Investment Officer / Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Groupama Asset Management. Romain has a Masters of Management Science from Université Paris Dauphine and a Masters in Finance from ESSEC Business School.
Judy is the CEO of ESG Global Advisors, a firm that bridges the gap between companies and investors on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. With over 20 years’ legal experience, the last 10 of which has been exclusively focused on ESG, Judy is a globally recognized expert on ESG and responsible investment.
Prior to forming ESG Global Advisors, Judy was V.P. & Head of Corporate Governance & Responsible Investment for RBC Global Asset Management (“RBC GAM”) and was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Judy launched the Corporate Governance & Responsible Investment group at RBC GAM in 2012 and was responsible for developing the firm’s overall ESG strategy, working with the investment teams to integrate ESG into the investment process, overseeing all proxy voting globally and engaging with investee companies, both individually and collaboratively with other investors.
Previously, Judy was the Director of Policy Development & Chief Operating Officer for the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance (“CCGG”), a coalition of most of Canada’s largest institutional investors. Judy has a Masters’ degree in securities law and practiced law in various capacities, including as enforcement counsel with the OSC, litigation counsel with a large broker/dealer and as a partner in a Bay Street law firm. Judy is a Board Advisor to Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group. She is a current member of the TSX Listings Advisory Committee, the CCGG Public Policy Committee and the UN PRI’s Global Policy Reference Group. She was previously the Canada Correspondent for the International Corporate Governance Network. In 2020, Judy received a Clean50 award for her leadership in advancing sustainability and clean capitalism in Canada.
Katherine Garrett-Cox is Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Gulf International Bank (UK) Ltd, (GIB UK) the UK subsidiary of Gulf International Bank B.S.C. Katherine was formerly Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer of Alliance Trust PLC, one of Europe’s largest providers of sustainable and responsible investment funds. She has served as a member of the UK Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group from 2012-2015 and the Scottish Business Board during the same period. Katherine is currently the Chair of the Clean Air Fund, Chair of CDP Worldwide and a Member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals, CFA Institute.
Katherine was nominated a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2006 and was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2014 New Year Honours List for her services to charity and to the asset management industry.
Adam is the Head of Sustainable Investment at Willis Towers Watson - a global role, leading the integration of sustainable investment across research, solutions and client advice.This role includes delivering services to a portfolio of clients across pension schemes, insurers, sovereign wealth funds, endowments and foundations, which are spread through Europe, the Middle East, North America and Australasia. The scope of advice and services covers all aspects of sustainability from beliefs, policy and regulation, to capital allocation, stewardship, monitoring, reporting, manager research, and portfolio construction. Adam graduated from Cambridge University, and supplemented this with a year at the Judge Business School reading Management Studies. Adam is a fully qualified Associate Chartered Accountant, holder of the UKSIP Investment Management Certificate, and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
Michael has been Head of Corporate Governance within the Sustainability Centre since 2009. He is in charge of the implementation of the stewardship policy, which includes proxy voting, engagement with issuers and analysis of corporate governance. He also contributes to the development and implementation of the Global Sustainable Policy, Stewardship Policy, and is a key driver for the firm’s ESG research and rating.His wider industry activity includes being a Chair of the “Corporate Governance” committee at the French Association of Asset Managers (AFG) and member of the “Shareholder rights” committee and the “Global Network of Investor Associations ‘GNIA’ committee” at the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN).He is also member of the Responsible Investment committee « at the French Association of Asset Managers (AFG), member of the « Investment committee » as Eumedion and member of the “Grand prix jury of the general meetings” in France for 2020. He has been member of the ESG Investor Director Working group (LeaderXXchange) and of the Best Practice Principles Stakeholder Advisory Panel in 2019.Michael previously worked as a jurist between 2006 and 2008 and was in charge of proxy voting for the Fonds de Reserve des Retraites (French back-up pension fund) in Paris.He graduated from the University of Paris XI (France) and has a master degree of Corporate and business law (2008).
Ms Huo is the Executive Director, Head of Investment Institute at Ninety One plc, an asset management business which is dual-listed on the London Stock Exchange and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. It is a FTSE 250 company.The Investment Institute reports directly to the CEO and delivers strategic investing insights and analysis across asset classes, investment strategies and borders. Prior to joining the firm, she spent 12 years at HSBC within its investment banking. As co-head of Sustainable Finance within Global Banking and Markets, she was responsible for green and sustainable product innovation across financing and investment. She was also Global Head of RMB Business, where she led the overall China and RMB internationalization strategy, revenue growth, product innovation and wider strategic client execution. Ms Huo is a Visiting Fellow at Tsinghua University in Beijing. She chairs the international workstream at for City of London’s Green Finance Initiative and leads overall China engagement. She also sits in the Senior Steering Group for UK’s Government’s Green Finance Institute. Ms. Huo was recognized by Financial News as one of the 100 most Influential Women in Finance in 2017, 2016 and 2015 and has also won the Chinese Business Leaders Award for Excellence in Banking in 2015. Studied in mainland China and the UK, and holds a Master of Science degree with Distinction from Cass Business School in London.
Meaghan Muldoon, Managing Director, is Global Head of ESG Integration at BlackRock. In this role, Ms. Muldoon leads the integration of ESG considerations across all active investment platforms at BlackRock. She most recently served as EMEA Head of Sustainable Investing, focused on identifying drivers of long-term return associated with environmental, social, and governance issues, integrating them throughout BlackRock's investment process, and creating solutions for our EMEA clients to achieve sustainable investment returns. Previously, Meaghan served as a Managing Director and Liaison to BlackRock's Board of Directors within the Corporate Strategy team, where she led the Board of Directors function and managed a rage of complex strategy projects. Prior to joining BlackRock in 2016, Ms. Muldoon served for more than seven years as a fiscal and economic policy advisor in the Obama Administration. Most recently, she served as Counselor to the Treasury Secretary, coordinating the Department's fiscal, domestic, and economic policy efforts. In previous roles, Ms. Muldoon served at the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President and Policy Advisor to the Chief of Staff, as Associate Director to the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform (Bowles-Simpson Commission), and as a lead advisor to three Directors of the Office of Management and Budget. Ms. Muldoon earned a Bachelor of Arts in government, cum laude, from Georgetown University, and a Master of Public Policy from Duke University.
Nick is the Head of Commodity Research at LGIM. He joined in 2013 as a Fund Manager in LGIM’s Global Equity team, focused on energy and natural resources. Prior to joining LGIM he was an Investment Director for Developed Asia and Global Emerging Markets at Standard Life Investments. He previously worked for an emerging market focused hedge fund investing in equities, convertible bonds and distressed debt. He has also worked in a corporate advisory role and as a software developer. Nick has a law degree (LLB.) and a Master’s in jurisprudence (MJur.), focused on securities law, from the University of Durham.
Laetitia Tankwe is advisor to the president of the board of trustees of Ircantec, a €12bnpay as you go complementary French pension scheme . She has more than 15 years of experience in the financial sector. She joined from Banque Populaire Méditerranée, where she was advisor to the chief executive. She joined the BPCE financial group in 2011. She previously worked at Bâtirente, a Canadian pension fund. As extra-financial risks manager, she oversaw the creation and the development of the fund RI approach.She is steering committee member of the Initiative Climate Action 100+ and member of the UN PRI francophone advisory group. Since 2019, she is also member of the PRI Board and of the Frenchsif board.She has a MBA with honors of HEC Montreal, a Master 2 f finance and economics of university Paris IX Dauphine and a Master 2 of Sciences politics of University Paris 1 Sorbonne.
Mark is Co-Director of the Credit Research group at Allianz Global Investors. Mark has been an industrials analyst for over 26 years in both buy and sell side roles and currently has covered of telecoms and basic industries in both investment grade and high yield, while also focusing on ad-hoc special situations. Mark has been a member of Allianz Global Investors’ Global ESG Committee and has helped develop the sustainability offering in fixed income products. Mark was previously at Lehman Brothers, UBS Principal Finance, Aladdin Capital and HSBC. Mark graduated in Mathematic and Philosophy at Durham University.
Steve chairs the ESG Senior Leadership Team at Aviva Investors, and is a member of the CIO Investment Committee. Steve founded Aviva Investors’ Sustainable Finance Centre for Excellence. This Centre seeks to transform capital markets so that they support long term sustainable development. He also co-founded the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark, the World Benchmarking Alliance, the UN Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Coalition. He was also part of the group that helped write the Principles for Responsible Investment.
Steve was appointed to the European Commission High-Level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance, and the UK Green Finance Taskforce, and is also a member of the Financial Stability Board Taskforce on Climate Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD).
Steve started his career at the World Wide Fund for Nature in 1995, where he chaired the business and industry core group and oversaw the ethical investment policy. He also served on the board of the UK Sustainable Investment & Finance association (UKSIF) from 2003 to 2010, serving as its Chairman from 2006.
