Simon Kirby MP, Economic Secretary, HM Treasury
Insurance Linked Securities, including catastrophe bonds and collateralised reinsurance, are one of the fastest growing parts of the insurance market. Total investment in ILS products stood at $75bn globally as of June 2016, but London has missed out on much of the business to date as the UK does not have the rules in place to allow ILS to be issued. The UK Government wants this to change so that London can remain a world leader in insurance and reinsurance. On 23rd November, HM Treasury published a Consultation on the regulations implementing a new regulatory and tax framework for Insurance Linked Securities. The purpose of this conference is to look at proposals and the opportunities and challenges they will involve. The event will include panel sessions and presentations from all the significant market players. There will be speakers from the Treasury and the relevant financial authorities and discussion led by the London Market Group, the industry body which has been helping spearhead the initiative.
We are delighted that Simon Kirby MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury (City Minister), HM Treasury will be giving the keynote address.
